Plastic Surgery: Where Do You Draw the Line on Cosmetic Procedures?

Too Much Plastic Surgery? Where Do You Draw the Line on Procedures? NextTribe

“I never thought I would submit. I admit that deep down I might have even judged other women for doing `it.’ At the very least, I haven’t defended other women who’ve taken artificial measures as vehemently as I should have, or maybe not at all.

Geez, I still find it hard to say `it.’  And `it’ is many things: Botox. Filler. Collagen. Even the dreaded, and more permanent, face lift. Look, not to sound trite, but until you’ve walked a mile in another woman’s face, you don’t know what you’d do.”

This is what writer Helen Darling says about cosmetic procedures in this weeks’ article, “Hiding Botox from My Husband…And Justifying it to Myself.” At least that’s what she says before she had Botox herself.

This got us thinking about where our readers draw the line when it comes to cosmetic procedures and how much plastic surgery is too much plastic surgery. We feel every woman has her own limits and her own reasons. Let us know by taking this three-question survey.

The (Next)Tribe Has Spoken: Here are the Beauty Habits That are Working For Us at Midlife

We asked and the tribe has spoken—and you had some pretty enlightening things to say about what beauty tips are (and aren’t) working for you now. In a survey we posted a couple weeks ago, you loyal readers shared your best beauty habits and other intel—from how many products you’re using to what celebs you look up to as beauty icons (Helen Mirren, Cindy Gallop, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren—did we mention Helen Mirren?).

A big take-away? We’re not spending a huge amount of time on beauty. About 46 percent of you responded you spend 30 total minutes a day on grooming. And that’s the whole shebang: Combined makeup, hair, skincare for morning and night on a routine day. And while 46 percent of us claim to spend more time on beauty than 20 years ago, some (12 percent, to be exact) are doing less.
