10 nights, 11 days
Edinburgh and a free-wheeling ride through the Southern Hebrides on E-Bikes
Limited to 10 women
Scotland is wildly gorgeous. We all know that from either traveling there or reading rapt accounts by other people lucky enough to make a visit.
To learn more about this exciting adventure, join us for a Zoom session where Jeannie Ralston will explain how the e-bike tour works and what we’ll see along the way. Click here to sign up for the info session.
But nothing is quite as gorgeous—in a verdant, salty-air, soul-stirring way—as the Scottish Islands, specifically the Southern Hebrides. And the best way to see this remarkable spot on the planet is on an e-bike, where you can zoom past breathtaking seascapes, flowering bushes in front of small cottages, quaint pubs and shops, and vistas of green pastures and enormous skies filled with muscular clouds.
NextTribe Founder Jeannie Ralston rode this island-hopping route on a bike a few years ago, and she reports that it was one of the most memorable jaunts of her life. She wants to share this special spot with nine other NextTribers.
Before we head to the coast, we’ll spend three days in lovely Edinburgh, getting an insider look at the historic city while getting over our jetlag. Our NextTribe connections will allow us to visit a local creative woman our age, so we can find out the secrets of life in Scotland. We’ll also do a whisky tasting to prepare ourselves for our time in the Scottish Hebrides, which includes the island of Islay, home to some of the most famous distilleries in the world.
Over our six days of e-bike riding, we’ll visit the islands of Arran, Jura, and Islay, staying in bed and breakfasts each night. We’ll take ferries between islands, and our tour outfitter will move our luggage to each inn.
Please note: This is what’s called a self-guided tour through an established operator, Hooked on Cycling. This means there will not be a van to pick us up if we get tired. But we’ll be on e-bikes, so no worries! And Jeannie Ralston, who has biked this route before, will be with us the whole way. Also, we will be given specific directions to reach all of our destinations. Plus, these islands are small. Plus, GPS!
