The Best Beaches in Troncones
One of the main attractions in Troncones: The pristine, uncrowded beaches. One of the best things to do in Troncones is to simply park yourself and listen to the waves, watch the surfers, loll, nap, meditate, stroll, read, play Words With Friends…whatever feels right. It’s a gorgeous setting.
Here are the top spots to visit, whether your taste runs towards the sugar-sandy or the rugged, rocky variety:
- Playa Troncones
Stretching for miles, this is the star of the area’s golden sands beaches. It’s framed by the lush Sierra Madre mountains. Playa Troncones is perfect for relaxing walks, sunbathing, and watching stunning sunsets. It’s also popular with surfers, especially near the northern part of the beach, where the steady drumbeat of healthy waves draws both beginners and experienced surfers alike. (One note: There’s a baby sea turtle hatchery not too far away where you can help with a turtle release as these creatures head into the water. Such a special event to experience!) - Playa Majahua
A short drive or bike ride north of Troncones, Playa Majahua is a tranquil, curving beach with calmer waters, ideal for swimming and paddleboarding. The village nearby offers a glimpse into traditional coastal Mexican life, with local fishermen bringing in their daily catch. - Playa La Saladita
