This year more than any other, you need a good coat. So much has to happen outside now–patio dining in February; Happy Hours on an icy front porch–you want to be wrapped up in style. And you can do that, Bernie Sanders, without sacrificing a modicum of comfort.
I thought the women at the inaugural had the right idea. Make a statement with the only garment that is really going to show at an outdoor event. I particularly loved the refreshing and bold monochromatic colors, and the long, flowing numbers are a sea change from the ubiquitous and girth-adding down-filled puffers of late.
Here’s what we’re loving this year.
Be Like Kamala
Our new vice president (yeah!) wore an exquisite shade of (bi-partisan) purple that said to the world, “Excuse me I’m talking.” Sam Edelman hits the right shade in this classic single-breasted coat in a warm wool blend.
Our former First Lady reminded us why we love her so when she showed up in that all-burgundy jumpsuit and coat. Our version is a robe-like trench from KASSL Editions. In this, you too can make a smashing entrance anywhere, the way Michelle did onto the viewing platform last week.
