7 Types of Glam Shoes to Dress Up Festive Looks

Sometimes finding the right shoe is the hardest part of putting together a holiday outfit. Here, our fashion editor offers some stunning options.

It seems like this is the time of year to dig deep into our closets, what with all the dressy work and play events popping up on the calendar. But don’t forget to pay special attention to the party shoes, which can make or break a festive look. But, as much as we love shopping, we also know that finding the perfect women’s special occasion shoes is not always the easiest part.

For ideas on dressy shoe styles, you’ll want to check out the latest installment of my “Talk-In Closet With Kim.” In this video I’ll help you put your best foot forward, just in the nick of time for holiday parties.

When the invite says, “Dressy,” we may automatically think of some skyscraper-heeled sandal with some glitter or shine, but I’ll show you options that are easier on the feet and even kind to pocketbooks.

Here are seven shoe tips whether you click online, head to the mall, or just end up shopping your closet for style updates.

Sexy Stilettos

A pair of sexy black heels, like these from BCBG, can be the brilliant touch for any holiday look. Of course they’re not for everyone since some of us find that stilettos equal suffering. But maybe you’re a pro at high heels, then by all means stand tall.

Tie It Up Like a Bow

Sandals with a chunkier heel that lace up your leg are fun to wear and are easy on the wallet when you find them on Amazon, like these Idalina Sandals with a bodacious heel.

Wrap n’ Flats

You don’t even need a heel to make the lace-up look sexy and party appropriate. Try flats, like these Valen Gladiator Sandals by Kenneth Cole New York, that flatter the leg while still keeping you firmly on the ground.

Ankle Strap It

Another way to make flats work for dress up? A lovely ankle buckle. The strap works as kind of a bracelet for your lower leg. Try these Ankle Strap Flats from Steve Madden.

Heeled Booties

We love our booties, and if you keep them sleek like these, they can be just the chic accessory your outfit needs.

Meow! Leopard Booties

At NextTribe, we have a natural affinity for leopard worn as a neutral, which we date back to this article. We’re especially fond of these Sam Edelman Kitten-Heeled booties from Nordstrom, which prove once again that Sam Edelman can do no wrong.

Over-the-Knee Boots

Want to make a flashy statement that doesn’t involve sequins or metallic finishes? Then wear these suede over-the-knee boots by Vince with something sexy and short while feeling comfortable and confident.
