Now that most of us are going out–not just going outside, but going out to dinner, parties, and events–you need to think about your wardrobe more. Gone (mostly) are the business-on-the-top, pajamas-on-the-bottom Zoom days. And it all starts with a good coat, which we consider the wrapping on the package that is you.
Here we pick our best finds in different styles.
Puffer Coat
Best
Nobody does it better than Norma Kamali (left), who made puffy coats fashionable–not just something for Alaska dog sledding. Reversible sleeping bag coat in silver and black, $630.
Runners Up
We love this Sam Edelman design (center) because it gleams, it’s got a faux-fur-trimmed hood and HUGE pockets. $220.
This J. Crew puffer jacket (right) seems a little less space age than most; it’s got faux-shearling trim that makes it work on the streets or the slopes. $268
Short Puffer
Best
J.Crew (left) comes up with a short puffer look that is soft and feminine–not what we’re used to seeing. $248.
Runners up
We love the boldness of this puffer jacket from Banana Republic (center). $229.
Invisibility? What invisibility? That’s never going to be a problem in Sam Edelman’s taxi yellow puffer (right). $200.

Boden USA gives us a color Teddy coat (right) to reproduce what we can’t see on those cloudy, dreary days of winter. $298.

Best
A striking color-blocked wrap coat from Banana Republic (left) has us drooling. $548
Runner Up
Donna Karan doesn’t disappoint with this plaid wrap coat (right) that–surprise–has a sumptuous hood. $550.

Faux Fur
Best
So much coolness in one coat (left); the vegan faux fur, the diamond pattern in neutrals, and a fluffy warm collar. From Anthropologie. $548.
