When we think of Santa and Mrs. Claus, the adjectives that naturally come to mind are “rotund,” “jolly,” and “dumpy.” How unusual it is to think of terms like, “sexy,” “magical,” and “strong.” But we can’t help it when we see Santa and Mrs. Claus played by the real-life gorgeous and charismatic couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.
The two have united in the new movie The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two, which is now streaming on Netflix. This is the first time Russell and Hawn have worked on a film together since they filmed Overboard more than 30 years ago.
Hawn, 75, and Russell, 69, have never married, but they’ve been together for 37 years, and their union has become a model of celebrity partnership…well, any partnership, really. These grandparents of six seem to genuinely enjoy and respect each other, and dang, that’s hard to maintain across the decades.
“I think the secret is to know when to depend on somebody and when not to. It’s important that you are able to hold up your side of the house,” Hawn told Woman’s Day in 2007. “I believe that one person can’t bear the whole burden because then their shoulders start getting heavy. The other part is to stay as sexy as you can and make sure you focus on all of those aspects of a healthy relationship—and sexuality is definitely one of them.”

Saving Christmas
Sexuality definitely figures into their new holiday film, directed by Chris Columbus. In the first Christmas Chronicles, Russell got called “Hot Santa,” with his gorgeous beard (the envy of any hipster) and super-hero antics.
Russell brought Hawn with him for the sequel. Hawn thinks of The Mrs. “the personification of love,” she told the Today Show. “What’s fun about her is that she’s a mysterious character. She’s not just a sweet old lady who bakes cookies,” Russell told the New York Times.
The chemistry that the two exude as a real-life couple comes through on screen, and as weird as it is to say, you can imagine them being naughty and nice after Santa returns home from his annual round-the-world, do-gooding circuit.
