Not long ago, I ran into the mom of one my son’s friends at a lunch spot. She was with a friend, and after they grabbed the table next to mine, we exchanged chit chat about our kids’ ages and the hell of travel sports. It could have been any conversation from any year and anywhere in the vast suburban swath of America.

But somehow, five minutes in, this mom I know to always be smiling, this woman I just met, and I were fuming over the Supreme Court upholding the Texas abortion ban, the attack on voting rights across the country, and the continuing number of people who say they support democracy but then actively try to subvert it by supporting the Big Lie that Trump won the election 10 months ago.
