Sheila Weller seems to have her fingers on the pulse of everything that’s happening in the world. She knows just about everyone, and has shared her connections and great writing talent with NextTribe for more than a year. This week she interviews Janis Joplin’s best friend (and former lover) in advance of a new book and movie on Joplin. We so appreciate all that Sheila brings to NextTribe that we have asked her to serve on our advisory board along with Judy Collins, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and other accomplished women. Sheila is the author of seven books, most recently the bestseller Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon — and the Journey of a Generation, and The News Sorority: Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, Christiane Amanpour — and the Triumph of Women in TV News. She is a writer for Vanity Fair, a recent longtime senior contributing editor at Glamour, and has written for just about every women’s magazine in existence as well as for the New York Times Book Review, Styles and Opinion pages. She lives in New York City.
