Stop Losing Your Keys (Your Wallet, Your Phone, Your Everything!)

ShareEmail this to someoneShare on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on StumbleUponShare on LinkedIn

Have you entered those fun years of misplacing your keys, the remote control, your purse, even your cell phone (bonus points for doing so while talking on it)? Welcome to the club. Nervously joking about having Half-heimers doesn’t make the situation any less frustrating as you frantically do laps around your house, searching for a momentarily lost item.

Get set to say a big thank-you for the Tile app. It’s a clever Bluetooth-powered system involving an app and sensors (either little tags or adhesive stickers) that you attach to frequently lost items. When the item that’s Tile’d goes missing, the system will alert you to its location when you are within 100 feet of it, and can also tell you where you last had it. For things that are still hidden, Tile will connect you to the world’s largest lost and found community to see if you can crowd-source your way to get your reunited.

We think Tile offers a fantastic way to avoid the old “retrace your steps” routine. Smart women we know use if for everything from favorite umbrellas to their iPads. Systems start at $25 for the app with one tracker tag, and a 3-pack of stick-on sensors adds $8. Luggage tags available, too. Check out www.thetileapp.com.

Confession: I now regularly spend upwards of $40 on balsamic vinegar, but don’t judge me. Dammit, it’s worth every penny.

About 10 years ago, a friend presented me with a bottle of Villa Manodori Balsamic Vinegar as a hostess gift. I must have had a what-no-candle? look on my face, because she proceeded to take out the cork (yes, cork), and drizzle some of this intense, gloriously molasses-like stuff onto my salad.
