Now, we’re going to give those of you who can actually sing a moment in the spotlight.
Because we are committed to offering women a chance to achieve their dreams, we are saving time for NextTribers to perform in the music section of our Feb. 23rd virtual Out Loud event.
NextTribe will be hosting a virtual Out Loud event on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd. (Early bird tickets will be on sale starting Jan. 25th.) Our speakers will include the actress Fran Drescher, designer Norma Kamali, Maya Wiley, the former MSNBC legal analyst and current NYC mayoral candidate, and Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of Friends and Grace and Frankie. The event will be interactive, with many more elements than your typical Zoom session. Promise.
For instance, we will end the event with a Disco Dance Party, led by our own DJ/Dance Queen Amy Kawadler, and the artist Tina Duryea will be creating sketches of our speakers during the event, which will then be given away as one of the evening’s prizes.
To start off the fun that night, we’ll have music–sung and performed by NextTribe women, including Lurleen Ladd (above right) whose new album is Magnolia and Azalea Dreams, Akina Adderly, singer, songwriter, and bandleader, and Sara Hickman (above left), who has release 21 albums and is the former State Musician of Texas (between Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson).
Because we are committed to offering women a chance to achieve their dreams, we are saving time for other NextTribers in the music section of our event, which is sponsored by Tito’s Vodka.
How to Enter
Send in a video of yourself performing by Feb. 5th and you may be featured in our montage of NextTribe musicians.
So if you have a song to sing, we invite you to send us a video of yourself performing–in any genre. You can be accompanying yourself, singing acapella or be in front of a band. Video should be no more than four minutes.
Those videos we select will be edited into a montage and will be shown at our Out Loud event. Plus, each of you who sends in a video will get a copy of Sara Hickman’s article on the State of the Music Business (in case you still want to pursue that rock star dream, and we say, “Why the hell not?”)
What’s more, the first 10 of you who send in a video and join as a NextTribe Member (or are already a member) will get the opportunity to have Sara Hickman as your mentor. You can send Sara a demo of your song and she will provide feedback and guidance.
So, fill out the form below and upload your video by Feb. 5th. If for some reason the video doesn’t load, please email us at editorial@NextTribe.com.
Video should be no longer than 4 minutes.
Notice: We want to showcase the musical talent of our NextTribe women, age 45 and up, at our Feb. 23rd virtual Out Loud event. We cannot guarantee that we will use every video entered; we will let you know if we will be using yours. By submitting this form you are granting NextTribe permission to use your video and your name at our Out Loud event; you are also granting us permission to edit your video and combine it with videos from other singers/musicians. Thank you.
