Do I have to be a member to take part in the workshop?
No, any woman over 45 can participate, but members get a discount.
I see that the fee for the workshop is lower for members. How do I get the cheaper price?
If you’re already a member, you can get a discount code here, and enter the code when you check out on PayPal. If you’re not a member yet, please join here ($39 a year) and then you will be able to access the discount code.
Will the workshop be in person or virtual?
Virtual, on Zoom.
I can’t make every session. What should I do?
We will be recording each session and all participants will be given a link to the video recording the day after each session.
What makes this workshop special?
The hosts, speakers, experts, and potential investors are women in the age group, who know where you are in your life and what questions you may have and what information you may need. We have customized the curriculum just for you, and through out the workshop you will be surrounded by women who are keen to support your goals.
How interactive are the sessions?
At each session you will be able to ask questions of the hosts or speakers and get feedback and advice. But because there will be a number of students, hosts or speakers will not be able to directly review documents or pitch decks.
I’m exploring an idea for a new business but I’m not very far along. Can I still benefit from this workshop?
Yes. Sign up for Part 1, in which we will help you refine your idea and determine if it’s workable.
I’ve already begun operations. Can I still benefit from this workshop?
Yes. The workshop will help you move forward in a careful, rational way. It can also help you get the funding you need to grow and scale your business.
What if I sign up for Part 1 only, but then decide I want to take Part 2?
If there are still spaces available in Part 2, you can sign up for it.
I already have my idea down pat. Can I just attend Part 2, without attending Part 1?
No. If you want to attend Part 2, you must also attend Part 1. This is so we will know that everyone in the workshop is at the same level of understanding when we talk about the more detailed nuts and bolts in Part 2.
I may need individual advice to get my idea and plan developed. How can I do that?
Many of the speakers are available for individual consulting and we will make their information and rates available to all participants.
Who is eligible to pitch the women investors at the end of the workshop?
If you have attended Part 1 and 2 of the workshop, you should have a good idea on how to refine your idea and put together your pitch deck. You can then submit your pitch deck to us. We will choose between 5 and 6 promising ideas to make it to the next round–the actual pitching to investors who have access to funds and a desire to support women entrepreneurs.
Will the pitch session be in person?
No, the pitch session will be virtual as well.
When will the pitch session take place?
We are planning on the end of September, to give everyone plenty of time after the end of the workshop to put together their pitch deck.
Will there be an extra fee to submit a pitch deck?
Yes, a small administrative fee of $40 for non-members and $20 for members to cover our costs of reviewing the pitch decks.
What’s a pitch deck?
A pitch deck is a brief presentation often in PDF or Powerpoint formats that gives potential investors or clients a visual overview of your business plan, products, services and growth traction. It has replaced straight business plans as the means to convey what a business is about and how it will succeed.
