We at NextTribe have always been fascinated with reinvention stories of women in this later chapter of life. We are looking for essays that express the yearnings, guts and determination to make a pivot now. We do not want a chronology of steps but something that reaches deeper, something that captures how difficult and at the same time rewarding the pursuit of a new road can be. Essays that are writerly and insightful will have the best chance of winning.
Prompt: Write about a time you’ve reinvented yourself, or longed to.
If you’re having trouble jump-starting your essay, you can also consider these prompts here.
Prizes: $200 and publication in NextTribe plus admission to an intensive 12-week virtual reinvention workshop run by our partner Camp Reinvention. (Value: $2,000.) Choose from either a career reinvention focus or a session devoted to reinventing health and fitness. Read more about the Camp Reinvention workshop here.
2 runners up: $100 each, publication in NextTribe.
Length: No more than 1,200 words.
