On Sunday, May 27th Diane MacEachern celebrated a birthday she’ll never forget. And neither will you, after you read her story about getting caught that day in the Ellicott City flash flood that took one life and devastated the Maryland town. It’s a good thing that Diane is NextTribe’s environmental writer because she can see the bigger picture from the tragedy and she shares it with us. Diane is an award-winning entrepreneur and prominent green expert who recently received the “Image of the Future” award from the World Communication Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She was also named one of America’s EcoHeroes by Glamour magazine, and was named to Earth & Industry’s List of “16 Women in Sustainability You Must Follow.” Diane founded Big Green Purse to inspire women to use their consumer clout to protect the planet and themselves. A best-selling author, Diane’s “how to go green” books have collectively sold almost four hundred thousand copies. Diane’s most recent book, Big Green Purse: Use Your Spending Power to Create a Cleaner, Greener World, has been called “the big green bible” for the extensive information and easy-to-follow advice it offers. Diane lives with her family in the energy-efficient home they helped design and build outside Washington, D.C.
